Meet the band

Circa Blue is known for their tight vocal harmonies, clean instrumentation, and creative arrangements.

The band released their debut CD, recorded at Echoes Recording Studio, in February 2012. The self-titled album featured five original tunes and five covers performed in the signature Circa Blue style. Special guests Mike Auldridge on resophonic guitar and Chris Sexton, from the popular bluegrass band, Nothin's Fancy's, played the fiddle track.

In 2014 their sophomore effort, "A Darker Blue," was released to critical and audience acclaim. With guests Gaven Largent on dobro, Marshall Willborn on bass, and the return of Chris Sexton on fiddle, the band continued to refine their sound, showcasing their musical chops on original songs and covers. "A Darker Blue" stayed on the radio charts for over a year, was #38 out of the top 100 albums for 2014 (Roots Music Report), and continues to receive airplay throughout the US and abroad.

In 2016 the band released its third project, "Once Upon A Time," on the Orange Blossom Records label. The album received positive reviews and multiple radio chart action. The title cut "Once Upon A Time" charted at #11 on the Bluegrass Today Radio Charts. ‏"Once Upon A Time, the latest release from West Virginia‏'s Circa Blue on Orange Blossom Records, is without question their most ambitious and artistically successful recording to date, Once Upon A Time shows the steady growth of Circa Blue, marking their continuing claim to move into headliner status"-John Lawless, Bluegrass Today.

In 2018 the band released ‏"Footprints in a Song," which covers a wide range of both original and familiar tunes all artfully arranged and performed. The recording displays rich vocals and dynamic instrumental treatments as well as the work of guest instrumentalists: Bill Vaughn/Piano, Chis Sexton/Fiddle, Gaven Largent/Dobro, and Con Burch/Vocals.

Circa Blue has begun to develop a presence on Youtube, and Facebook with video releases Mississippi Queen, Footprints in a Song, God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, and Whimsical. Steve Harris, the founder of Circa Blue, continues to host the annual ‏"Circa Blue Festival" in Martinsburg, WV, during the month of June. The Circa Blue band is currently touring and working on a new CD to be recorded in 2021 and released on Bell Buckle Records.

Live at WAMU, Washington DC
